Long span buildings are hard to conceive but strangely have been on the anvil from medieval times. There are some structures which require unobstructed large space for functional use and these can only be supported by pillars and concrete fusion. These are also pretty high inside. Hangars and stadiums are general example. Sometimes, its own weight becomes a barrier to its sustenance and not the weight it is supposed to carry. Thus they are built with durable substances and good alloy use. Aluminum and steel are preferred materials.

These houses are supposed to be flooded with stalls and require being flexible. Special consideration is given towards its inherent safety. They usually span about 100 feet or even more of space and thus are not made privately. Only government enterprises are in the habit to finance and let long span buildings stand. Certain school halls and auditoriums are also built using this technology.
